The Beatles released The White Album in 1968 but never played any of the songs live. In Sacramento at the Crest Theatre on Saturday, Sept. 30, a 40-piece orchestra featuring top area players, along with popular local singers/musicians/celebrities and top students from The Sacramento Preparatory Music Academy (SPMA) will liberate the Beatles’ White Album from wax, and perform the entire album in it’s entirety.
The Sacramento Preparatory Music Academy (SPMA) led by founder and ravenous Beatles fan Ben McClara, has painstakingly transcribed and arranged The Beatles’ White Album “In It’s Entirety,” for Rhythm section + 9-piece Strings section, 6-piece Woodwinds section, 6-piece Brass section, Percussion, & 4-person Background Choir. This concert is the major yearly fundraiser supporting The SPMA Guitar Project & the iHeartMusic.Org Scholarship Fund, which helps bring music education and guitar programs to underserved schools in the Sacramento area.
The Beatles’White Album will feature Sac’s favorite Master of Ceremonies & entertainer/singer, Peter Petty, who is just set to release his debut album, Ready, Petty, GO! on Sept. 23.

“It’s a chance to witness one of the greatest records in Beatles history played live from start to finish,” says an enthusiastic McClara. Guest vocalists will bring new meaning to these iconic lyrics—Peter Petty doing “Wild Honey Pie,” “Back in the U.S.S.R” and “Happiness (Is A Warm Gun)”--all in his white tux and tails, of course. Kitty O’Neal singing “Blackbird” and “Dear Prudence;” Gabe Nelson doing all those tender man songs—” Julia” and “Mother Nature’s Son.” And blues belter Dana Moret doing “Helter Skelter”! The big encore songs are being kept a surprise, but McClara, who has put ALL of his own personal teaching salary into producing this show, wants everyone in the Crest to sing along. For him, the staff and especially his music students learning so much about music and collaborative life skills, it’s what John Lennon and Paul McCartney meant about truth and higher consciousness when they sang “I’d love to turn you on.”
